About the Production

Undesirable Elements/Tokyo is an interview-based theater production that explores the question of what it means to be a foreigner or “gaijin” in Japan. The cast members have origins in the United States, Sweden, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Korea, Myanmar, South Africa, and Japan, but all reside in Tokyo. Each cast member shares the unique experiences that brought them to reside in Tokyo, and the challenges and joys of embodying complex identities.
