About the Production
Undesirable Elements/Difficult Lives is an interview-based theater production chronicling the experiences of individuals living with chronic illness, disability, and social stigma in Japan. The production illustrates the personal struggles and underlying tensions of attitudes towards disability in contemporary Japan. It is a portrait of people who are determined to move forward despite the discrimination and prejudice they face in their daily lives as a result of their differences.
