Maraya - Acts of Nature in Geological Time
About the Production
Maraya (the title is a play on the Buddhist word maya – meaning illusion) was described by a critic as “nostalgia for eternity.” The piece is a meditation on mankind, emphasizing the recurring aggressiveness of human culture throughout time. An ancient caretaker oversees a theatrical space of ritual in which poetic events occur through a gridded wall.
Dedicated to Marguerite Yourcenar.
