About the Production

Say My Name, Say My Name: Stories of LGBTQ Youth from New Orleans features the true stories and life experiences of 5 Black transgender young women from New Orleans. It explores the dynamics of growing up transgender against the backdrop of New Orleans, the incarceration capital of the world, and the fierce power of self-identification. Say My Name is based on interviews, writings and conversations with the cast and additional members of BreakOUT!, a youth-led community organization dedicated to fighting the criminalization of LGBTQ youth of color in New Orleans.
