Transforming an Artistic Legacy into Practice: PCC’s Year Two Transition Report

PCC’s Year Two Transition Report, July 2023 - June 2024, is the second annual report that provides an in depth look into our three-year transition period, following the retirement of Founder and Artistic Director Ping Chong and Executive Director Bruce Allardice in December 2022.Leading up to that moment, we announced a three-year leadership transition and strategic plan that articulated an innovative approach rooted in exploration, experimentation and intentional evolution of the company towards a reimagined future. Since then, a 5-person interim Artistic Leadership Team (ALT) has guided the company with the goal of creating an artistic and organizational future aligned with our enduring values and legacy.

The second year of this planned three year period was focused on interim leadership and how we are shaping a sustainable artistic and organizational future. We are excited to share with you our experiences and learnings in our five strategic pillars of work outlined in the strategic plan: Artistry, Organizational Development, Equity, Resource Development and Communications, and Board Development.

As we enter Year Three, we turn toward strategic implementation. Our current phase will focus on deepening the integration of community engagement and education across all areas of the organization; solidifying our administrative structures to better support an artist-driven model; and preparing to unveil a new name and identity that reflects our expanded mission.
