How to Partner

PCC is a leader in socially engaged theater, and cross-sector collaboration. Artistic partnerships are foundational to our work.

Our Artistic Leadership Team bring decades of combined experience working with artistic institutions to develop new work, and PCC staff and collaborating artists are dedicated to responsive art making and community engagement, with the goal of creating original projects and productions that recognize the need for engaging in equitable creative spaces, and the spirit of mutually supportive learning and exchange.

We work in partnership with theater companies, performing arts centers, festivals, universities, educational, and community-based organizations in New York City, nationally, and internationally.

Examples of recent and past partnerships include Nile Harris’ this house is not a home, developed in partnership between PCC, Abrons Arts Center, and Under the Radar, and Beyond Punishment: Stories of Justice and Healing, developed as a producing partnership between the Justice Beyond Punishment Collaborative, PCC, and presented by partner venues Weeksville Heritage Center and Hi-Arts. All productions in the Undesirable Elements series are, by nature, created in unique partnerships and residencies with local community organizations and feature community members telling their own stories on stage. Original productions, such as the Collidescope series are often developed in collaboration with Theater and Dance departments on university campuses.

Partnerships can extend beyond creating and presenting new work. For example, PCC developed a national program to train non-arts organizations to create their own theatrical productions modeled on PCC’s Secret Survivors production, featuring the voices and experiences of child sexual abuse survivors. These productions have become tools for community-based dialogue and action.

PCC is also committed to sharing our methodology and mentoring the next generation of theater artists through training and fellowship programs, and to creating wider access to the arts for young people through our arts education program.
